Great Longstone - the best kept secret in the Peak National Park

Introduction

Great Longstone is an unspoilt village in the heart of the Peak District. Frequented by walkers, horse riders and cyclists the village boasts an ancient cross on the tiny village green, a church, a butcher's shop, an old-fashioned store and two pubs including, of course, the White Lion.

The village of Great Longstone is a Peak District gem - beautifully located under the mass of Longstone Edge, it has its own Sports Ground with cricket and football pitches, tennis court and children's playground.

With an excellent primary school, good bus service to Bakewell, St Giles' church, two pubs, a butcher's shop and a paper shop / general store - the village is well served to look after the needs of the local community and visitors who arrive not looking to throw chips to the ducks (no river here!) or meander aimlessly around the local hiking shops (no retailers here!) but to enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet offered in this hidden Peak Park village.

At the centre of the village is the White Lion with parking up the lane at the side of the pub. Why not come and visit the village for yourself - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
